Poem 118 - Child

Child

I am the offspring of your offspring
Does that mean nothing?
I am the offspring of your offspring
I remain a child as you wither
You walk passed me. Not knowing
Who I am.
Who am I in the wake of your not knowing?
If I am a grandchild to no one
A daughter to only one of my
‘Folks’ then do I exist in the
My correct context?
You walk past… is that my fault?
Did I blind you to seeing me as I
Grew up and away?
The fastest route between two
Points is a straight line, the
Sum of all parts is a whole,
How to find the hypotenuse
When the two side opposite
Are invisible. With no ego
I ask. How can you, when I
Am the offspring of your offspring,
Not care, or ask, or care to ask
Why don’t you love me
As the sum of all my
Parts whatever they are?
