Poem 115 - Braids and brains and kindred spirits

Braids and brains and kindred spirits

“Do you know how to do a French plait?”
I asked on an evening spent horizontal
Watching the telly.
One was unable to respond.
Two replied “ I do”
“How? You clever thing”
Answered I.
“ My dad taught me”
We laughed
All of us in unison.
She continued
“ When I was little I wanted to
Go to school with braids, so
My dad learnt how and then did
Them for me everyday throughout
Primary school.”

How nice … I thought.
What a fantastic primary objective.
